A child therapist is someone that specialized training working with children and adolescents and their families. The child therapist has particular knowledge and skills that allow them to recognize and treat a variety of difficulties a child or adolescent may be having such as anxiety, depression, behaviours, emotional regulation, ADHD, self-esteem issues, as well as trauma and loss.
The first session may include the parents alone, the child or adolescent alone or both parents and child or adolescent.
